The diamond pattern has been used in Japan since ancient times. Combined with the chrysanthemum on the lining, it creates an elegant design.

The color “Plum Purple” is considered a relatively new dye name, similar to “Plum Grey,” which appears in dye sample books from the late Edo to early Meiji periods.
